RO-100-Class (Type KS)

JPN Submarine WWII Coastal Submarines Tier 4 Power 65.31

Coastal Defenders - RO-100-class were small coastal defense submarines. 18 boats built 1942-1944. Very small (601/782 tons), four torpedoes with no reloads. 14 knots surfaced, 8 submerged. Mass-produced for homeland defense but many sent to distant waters. 13 lost in combat (72% loss rate). Showed limitations of coastal subs in Pacific - too small, too slow, too limited. Five survived to surrender.
